The CA Auth ID App, formerly known as the CA ArcotID PKI app, offers two-factor strong authentication via your iPhone. This application enhances logon security for online platforms by utilizing a device that most users already carry, providing a convenient yet secure method for authentication.

Functionality
To access a preferred site or network, users must first obtain a CA Auth ID soft token associated with that specific platform. Each soft token is unique to the user and the site being accessed. Upon entering a password, the CA Auth ID app integrates this password with the unique soft token to generate an identification certificate, which is then automatically sent to the site for verification. Importantly, user passwords are neither stored on the device nor transmitted to the web portal.

This method ensures that an unauthorized individual cannot access your accounts with only a password or just an iPhone. Even in the unfortunate event that your iPhone is lost, the potential threat of brute-force attacks on your password remains mitigated. The CA Auth ID soft token can securely facilitate access to online banking accounts, personal websites, corporate VPNs, or any other application typically requiring password entry.

Security Features
Each user account is assigned a distinct CA Auth ID soft token, which contains PKI-based cryptographic keys crucial for secure authentication to online platforms. The proprietary technology employed by CA Technologies safeguards these keys against unauthorized access, hence reducing potential risks even if an individual were to gain physical access to your iPhone.
